3rd, Silica fiber textiles. Working temperature is 1000C as normal classified.
The main chemical composition is SiO2> 96%, others< 4%. It’s clear that the fiber is mainly SiO2, and its advantage is the spinning yarn will not need add binder fibers. The silica fiber could embrace each other when spinning. So we could get the thinner cloth made of silica fiber, which has the strength and the thickness could be thin enough. But its disadvantage is also because of composition. As the factory needs to remove other ingredients and purify the SiO2, during production process requires a lot of energy and other intermediate material. So if we produce the same yarn from ceramic fiber and silica fiber, the silica’s cost will be 3~5 five times of ceramic fiber.
Because the silica fiber’s cost is much higher than ceramic fiber, most of the markets for silica fiber textiles are cloth and tapes, the ropes could be produced specially.
4th, Quartz fiber textiles. Working temperature is 1200C as normal classified.
The main chemical composition is SiO2> 99.92%. The fiber is also mainly SiO2, and the textiles are nearly the same with silica fiber textiles. But as it needs more purification in the SiO2, the cost of quartz fiber is nearly the 20 times compared with silica fiber.
The quartz fiber yarn is mainly used to produce the cloth which is used more in the military weapons, and to produce the sleeve which is used more in the high temperature insulation in precision components. But if there is anywhere need 1200C to insulation, the quartz is also a choice for the clients.
5th,High Aluminum fiber textiles. Working temperature is 1300C as normal classified.
The main chemical composition is Al2O3: 72%, SiO2 : 28%, others<1%. The main composition is Al2O3, and the textiles are nearly the same with quartz and silica fiber textiles from performance. The white color is nearly all the fibers’ performance of aluminum silicate series. The advantage of aluminum fiber is higher temperature, but its cost is nearly 2 times of quartz fiber.
Why it is so expensive of high aluminum fiber? We have to explain from the production as below.
The raw material should be melted in over 2000C, and then there are some necessary ways to adjust the chemical composition of the melt. Then extrude the melt to silk and cool down to fiber. If the main composition of melt is SiO2, it is easier to be extruded. But if the main composition of melt is Al2O3, the melt flow is very low, very hard to be extruded to silk. So that’s why the high aluminum fiber’s cost is more expensive.
