Ceramic fiber yarn manufacturing process

Ceramic fiber is a kind of aluminum silicate fiber, the main composition is Al₂O₃·SiO₂. Because the ceramic fiber is made from aluminum silicate, we could call it made from stone. The ceramic fiber has good performance on the high temperature insulation, but it could not be spun yarn alone. As the surface of the ceramic fiber is very smooth, the ceramic fibers could not match each other alone. So the ceramic fiber yarn manufacturing process is a process we used different kinds of fibers to let ceramic fiber hold and spun to yarn finally.

1.Opening and mixing

The ceramic fiber is produced from high temperature furnace, which the raw material is melted and throws to fiber. And we need to mix the organic fibers polyester, or viscose or polypropylene with ceramic fiber in the beginning of this process. These organic fibers could help ceramic fibers hold each other in the next processes.

2. Cleaning and Rolling

There are some impurities in the ceramic fibers and organic fibers, and there are some too short to spin fibers need to be removed. So we need mix the ceramic fibers and organic fiber, and remove most of the impurities in this process.

At the same time of mixing and removing impurities, the left fibers were combed to the same direction and twisted some to a strip. In this process, the strip was added the glass fiber filament. As the glass filament could add the strength in the strip.

In the end, these strips were rolled to ceramic fiber cake we called, like the picture showed. This cake will be carded and spun to the yarn finally.

3. Carding

After us getting the cake, they will be placed in the carding machine. The stainless steel wire will be added if needed in the yarn. And then we will get the ceramic fiber roving yarn like the picture showed.

4. Spinning

There is no exact tex no. in the roving yarn, but the roving yarn could be made to twisted and produce the roving rope which is very light but could be used in some special area.

During the spinning, the roving yarn is twisted to increase its strength. And we could stretch the ceramic fiber yarn to target fineness. For example, 420tex, 525tex, 630tex, 780tex, 830tex, 1000tex, 2000tex, 2250tex and so on.

And we could choose 3 roving yarn to make 830x3 yarn, or we could use 2 roving yarn to make 1000x2 yarn finally.

After spinning to the target fineness, this ceramic fiber yarn is winded in the standard bobbin. There are normally two kinds of bobbin, one is 1.3~1.4kg/bobbin, the other is 2.6~2.7kg/bobbin. All these bobbins with yarns are our sold yarn.
